Will Jack Grealish or Jeremy Doku start against Liverpool?

Heading into Saturday’s crunch Premier League match against Liverpool one question is who will start on City’s left wing? Which one of Jack Grealish or Jeremy Doku will get the nod for the top-of-the-table clash at Etihad? Both players bring different attributes to Pep Guardiola’s side, so either could start in the crunch fixture.

In Manchester City’s 4-all draw with Chelsea, Jeremy Doku was picked to start. The explosive winger has made an exceptional start to life at the Etihad. He has scored three goals and added six assists in 14 appearances. Doku has brought something City didn’t have with his dribbling ability and explosive pace. He also starred for Belgium in their 5-nil win over Azerbaijan midweek. Doku is in form heading into Saturday’s clash.

Jack Grealish was preferred when Manchester City dispatched arch-rival Manchester United 3-nil at Old Trafford in late October. The England international was at his best as his link-up play with Bernardo Silva was a feature as City dominated United. It was arguably Pep Guardiola’s side’s best performance of the season so far. Grealish was at his best as he tormented the United defence in the win.

Jack Grealish or Jeremy Doku starting will be something to watch for when the starting lineups are announced. One thing that may tip the balance in the favour of Grealish is his ability to track back. With Liverpool possessing a devastating threat on the counter the England winger may get the nod over Doku.

There is also a possibility both could start. With City’s midfield suffering from injuries, Phil Foden may shift centrally with Doku and Grealish on the wings. How City lineup will be something to keep an eye out for ahead of Saturday’s massive game.
