Gary Neville has praised Jack Grealish as a top player after his recent performances. The England international had made a slow start to this season after last season’s campaign and injury. But the winger has returned to his best against Young Boys and in the derby win over Manchester United.
Speaking on the Webby & O’Neill YouTube show Neville was full of praise for Grealish. He said “City paid £100 million for Jack Grealish and they ended up winning a treble with him in season two. Now, to be fair, his numbers aren’t unbelievable in terms of assists and goals. But when you look at his performance level, you look at him on Sunday out on that pitch, he’s a bloody good player.”
The contribution of Jack Grealish to Pep Guardiola’s side can’t be measured in just goals and assists. He is a key part of the City set-up with what he brings to the team. His ability to retain possession and trackback are vital ingredients for the treble winners. That added to the technical ability possessed by Grealish makes him an important part of the European champions squad.
Neville also had a message for the critics of the £100 million price tag City paid for Grealish. He added: “His way in which he can take the ball, passes it, looks after it, wins fouls, takes people on, he’s a good player, Jack Grealish. Whether you like it he’s a £100 million or don’t like he’s £100 million, he fits into City’s style of play.”
Jack Grealish will be looking to continue his scintillating form this weekend as the Premier League champions host Bournemouth on Saturday. Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to continue their recent good form after three consecutive wins over Brighton, Young Boys and Manchester United.
