Kyle Walker not expected to play against Bayern Munich

Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker is not expected to play in the champion’s next friendly against Bayern Munich.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move to the German champions this window. Pep Guardiola spoke of talks with the England international before the treble winners’ first pre-season friendly against Yokohama F.Marinos.

When asked about Walker’s future, the City boss said: “I spoke with Kyle and everything is right — we will see what happens. I cannot tell you because he is still thinking about that.”

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany has reported that Walker is likely to sit out tomorrow’s friendly against Bayern. He adds that the two clubs will meet for negotiations in Tokyo this week.

With talks between the two clubs set to ramp up, an answer on Walker’s future is seemingly getting close. The champions have offered the right-back a new deal to remain at the club as reported by Tom Gott of 90min. City considers Walker an important member of Pep Guardiola’s set-up.

As negotiations step up between the two clubs, the possible exit of Kyle Walker, a key part of City’s treble-winning side may loom this week. Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez have already departed the champions this window.
