Another Manchester City player is fit to play against Tottenham

Manchester City will enter today’s Premier League fixture against Tottenham with a host of players available after injury layoffs. Pep Guardiola confirmed yesterday that Manuel Akanji, John Stones and Nathan Ake are all available for today’s match. Their return from injury was offset by the news that Mateo Kovacic is set to be sidelined for a month. Speaking in the embargoed section of his pre-game press conference Guardiola also confirmed that Jack Grealish is available for today’s critical clash with Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Pep Guardiola was asked if Jack Grealish was fit during the embargoed section of his pre-game press conference yesterday. He told the media when asked if Grealish is fit: “Yeah. We trained two days together, and he trained really good!

Guardiola also added that he isn’t against Jack Grealish or any other Manchester City player playing for their country. He just didn’t believe after medical advice from Manchester City’s medical staff that Grealish should have been selected in the England squad. He explained: “But what I said to Jack; you think I have a problem with Jack. I would love him to go to the national team! Of course he has to go! But 17 days he didn’t train and he has to go to the national team? No. He has to recover well, and after for the next time, go to the national team! This is my view, and I’m not going to change my opinion for that, of course.

It is welcome news for Manchester City to have Grealish back. The champions have missed what Grealish adds to their lineup. His return strengthens the City squad and gives them another quality option to play on the left wing. It had appeared earlier this week that it was a formality that Grealish would be available for today’s match. The England international was pictured training on Thursday. Pep Guardiola’s update just confirms what was apparent when the England international trained earlier this week.
