While it seems no transfer is ever completely straightforward, it seems that Manchester City business this summer has been somewhat complicated. With the Paqueta deal falling through, the Blues turned their interest to Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.
However, this saga continues for now. Following the rejection of City’s first bid, reports suggested that Nunes refused to train with his squad. Journalist David Ornstein further claimed that the Portuguese player will face disciplinary for his conduct.
🚨 Matheus Nunes has stopped training with Wolves + expressed wish to join Man City. #WWFC rejected €55m #MCFC bid & plan to stand firm unless valuation met. 25yo will face disciplinary action + be reintegrated post-window if no deal struck @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/5frO5pnF0U

Moreover, Ornstein reported that should Wolves no meet Manchester City’s valuation, they could walk away rather than negotiate.
But in fresh reports by Manchester City transfer guru Tolmie, a deal could still be on.
More positive noises tonight that Wolves are becoming less resistant to a Nunes agreement and still a chance this will get done.
