Sam Lee adds that the teams had talks over a deal for Walker in Tokyo during the two clubs’ pre-season, but a deal was unable to be struck. A fee needs to be agreed between the clubs for any potential move for Kyle Walker to take place.
Pep Guardiola spoke of the club’s desire to keep Walker, and his teammate Bernardo Silva at the club. In his press conference before the FA Community Shield against Arsenal, the City boss said: “Regarding Kyle and Bernardo. They’re important players for us. We want them to stay. We will do everything. To replace these two players is incredibly difficult.”

It appears that the race to keep Kyle Walker at the Premier League champions is heating up. With a second contract offer tabled for the full-back, it shows just how important he is to Manchester City. The treble winners would not want to lose a key part of their squad so late in the summer window.
