The second half of the season will require all hands on deck for Manchester City

The second half of this season will require all hands on deck for Manchester City. January is a quiet month and a chance to reset for Pep Guardiola’s squad. But the season ramps back up next month and the UEFA Champions League second round begins with a tie against FC Copenhagen for City. It will require the entire City squad as they attempt to defend their treble won last season.

City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about the busy schedule following his side’s win over Sheffield United. He told the media that he will need his entire squad as the schedule ramps up next month. He said: “We are waiting for Jeremy (Doku), we are waiting for Erling (Haaland), John Stones because the second part of the season is already here! January will come soon, and it will disappear soon because we have three, potentially four, games. And after in February, the Champions League is here, and in the last part of the season we need everyone, and it’s incredible news that Kevin is back, and Erling as well, and Jeremy as well.”

With Kevin De Bruyne a part of the Manchester City squad at the weekend it leaves only John Stones, Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland on the injury list. It does appear that the trio will all be back sooner rather than later based on the recent updates provided by Pep Guardiola.

After Pep Guardiola’s side created history in 2023 they will need all hands on deck to try to repeat last year’s heroics in the coming weeks and months ahead. It does appear that the injured City players aren’t far away from returning.
