With Rodri now having left Manchester City to sign for Barcelona, there is space in Enzo Maresca’s squad for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi. It has seemed for the last few weeks that Bouaddi has been close to finally becoming a City player. Now another update has emerged stating that Lille and Manchester City are set for a new round of talks to conclude the deal that will bring Ayyoub Bouaddi to the Etihad. Frankly, it is a deal that City have to complete, so hopefully City’s move for Bouaddi is completed as soon as possible.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester City and Lille have scheduled a new round of talks to complete the final step of negotiations that will see Ayyoub Bouaddi become a City player. Furthermore, Romano reports that Bouaddi is waiting for the green light to travel to Manchester to complete his City medical and become a member of Enzo Maresca’s squad.
Hopefully, City can wrap up the signing of Bouaddi quickly as they have work to do in the transfer market.
Manchester City will be eager to complete negotiations with Lille to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi. The Moroccan midfielder will have a crucial role to play for Enzo Maresca’s side. Although Bouaddi is only 18 years of age he has the talent and pedigree to quickly become an important contributor for City. City are desperate to bolster their midfield given which players have left the club this summer. Signing Ayyoub Bouaddi would help begin to fill the holes in City’s midfield.
Outside of that, the final two weeks of the summer transfer window look to be a busy time for Manchester City. There is a possibility that a host of players will depart the club that will need to be replaced. The sooner the Bouaddi deal is wrapped up, the quicker City can move on to other transfer targets.
It is far from ideal that Manchester City are working against the clock to bolster Enzo Maresca’s squad. But that is the hand they’ve been dealt and the quicker the Bouaddi deal is completed, the better. Hopefully, the upcoming talks between City and Lille end with Bouaddi getting the green light to become a City player.

Stones, Silva, Akanji, Ake, Trafford Rodri, Reindjers, are gone with Savinho, and Marmoush likely to go as is Gonzalez. Ten players out and with two weeks left City are yet negotiating for an 18 year old, and possibly a toxic signing in Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea and now a bloke from Roma. And still no fullback signed.

When we finally get to conclude the deal Bouaddi he will be a success and become a legend. (winning lottery numbers are also available at a small consideration).
I think the Kone signing might be a good one too with the added benefits ManU have their faces pressed up against the sweetshop window and he’s not from delusional Chelsea.
No one expects Bouaddi to instantly come in and be the saviour. Anderson isn’t that either. No player we sign this summer will be that. It will be a squad effort to compete on all four fronts.
However, I see Bouaddi’s age often touted as why he isn’t ready so to speak, which ignores his obvious talent to contribute in a meaningful way already. He’s shown what he is capable of with Lille and Morocco. The kid is a talent, possibly as highly rated as Joao Neves was when he signed for PSG. There is enough exposed form from Bouaddi to show he can contribute for us. The scope for him to improve is also immense so perhaps signing him is the best of both worlds in a sense.
As for the departures or tearing down of the squad, some of these players Pep himself didn’t fancy. Nico G, fell of the map last season. Marmoush had a tough season due to injury and AFCON but he often drifts out of games so much so that Pep rarely turned to him. Reijnders fell out of favour with Pep as well and was sold for a profit. Savinho has been so heavily criticised that no matter what good signs he shows they’re overlooked by many to highlight his obvious flaws. If we get £85 million for him that should be considered a win.
As for Bernardo Silva and Stones we knew they were off. Ake was a shame, but clearly Khusanov and Vitor Reis are the future at the back. We obviously want them to play a bigger role, especially Vitor Reis.
James Trafford and Rodri were the two we’d have all liked to keep. But their departures weren’t a surprise.
My personal belief is that we wouldn’t sanction so many departures without having a plan in place. However the timeline is off with the season starting this weekend. But if we can pick up good results against Bournemouth and Palace while players come in the door that would be ideal. Whether or not it is possible we’ll find out.
glad to see you speak common sense, l have never known a week where so many people are saying city are finished after one result, where players were not fit and out of position and it was was only the week before where they were saying that Arsenal had a bad defence after some bad results, this is the first time ever l have applied on a site , but l have realised this week, there is a load of overreacting.
Well said Matthew, if you put the stats for he Community Shield up it would be hard to say which team was which. The one with the most attempts wasn’t Arsenal !!!

That only meant we were given time in finding replacements, if we went into the season with false hope after a win against arsenal, that would of been our downfall for the next few months!!
