All summer it has seemed that at some point Savinho will move from Manchester City to Tottenham. It has become a protracted transfer saga but it does seem like that is where it will end up. Perhaps, moving to Tottenham will cure the illness that Savinho has suffered from which caused him to be unavailable for the FA Community Shield clash with Arsenal last Sunday. Now, it has been reported that Tottenham are eyeing a deal to sign Omar Marmoush alongside Savinho. In the case of Marmoush, a summer transfer is likely the best move for him as he just doesn’t seem to fit at Manchester City.
Tottenham have their eyes on signing both of Omar Marmoush and Savinho.
David Ornstein has reported for The Athletic that Tottenham are working on a deal to sign both Omar Marmoush and Savinho from Manchester City. Ornstein stresses that while nothing is finalised in terms of both players moving to Tottenham, talks are advancing.
Paul Hirst has revealed for The Times that Manchester City are demanding £85 million to sell Savinho. Furthermore, Hirst reports that City are aiming to sell Marmoush for more than the £59 million they spent to sign the Egyptian international from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Putting Savinho to one side, it would seem that a summer move away from Manchester City is the best move for Omar Marmoush.
Savinho has always seemed destined to leave Manchester City and move to Tottenham this summer. There is no point rehashing that particular story. However, looking at Omar Marmoush, perhaps a summer move is ideal for him. The Egyptian international hasn’t come on as a City player and the role he fulfils in the City squad isn’t ideal for him.
Omar Marmoush is viewed as Erling Haaland’s backup. More often than not, Marmoush only starts for Manchester City if Haaland is unavailable or rested. Marmoush doesn’t play on a wing, and is unlikely to under Enzo Maresca. The Egyptian international is rarely used to play alongside or behind Haaland. That role goes to Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden. Marmoush needs to be playing regularly and it isn’t a surprise to learn that a move Tottenham may be on the cards for him.
There is another factor in the equation for Omar Marmoush. Perhaps he just isn’t quite up to the level that Manchester City need. Too often, Marmoush is on the periphery of games when he does start for City. He can drift out of matches and outside of scoring against Newcastle, Marmoush often doesn’t make a telling contribution. Is that due to Marmoush’s level as a player or because of a lack of continuity in his play? That is up for debate.
Tottenham are attempting to sign both Savinho and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. Those are both moves that you can see happening. City will look to replace the pair, but for now, it does seem possible that both players could end up signing for Tottenham.
On the subject of Marmoush I like him but as you say the role he’s been expected to play isn’t the one he’s suited to which isn’t his fault.
The person that did suit that role and much more as well was Julian Alvarez and we’ve not replaced him.
What I am more concerned about is that we appear to be still engaged in a jigsaw when we’re already a week in to the season. Getting off to a good start is in my opinion essential to a good season. We seem to be doing good stuff as far as completing good deals for sales but where are the incoming replacements?
The faffing around appointing Maresca maybe be partly to blame but given that quite a few factors were well signposted in advance it’s hard to know why we weren’t quicker off the mark.
You have summed it all up very well. I know Pep always wanted a smaller squad but this is getting silly. What is starting to worry us all is that there are ,Haaland apart, no world class or game changers in that squad which at present seems ill equipped to embark upon a campaign on the usual 4 fronts.
Our usually well organized team from the CFG who are geared for football success world wide seem to have taken their fingers off the pulse which is suspiciously alarming. With Pep and Tixxi the main architects of our 14 year domination now gone, has the Sheikh himself losing interest now the “Project” is over.
At least, if the hard times come back Us hardened old stagers can embrace it.
I wonder how long it will be before Haaland wants to jump ship. He joined a team of thourourbreds in 2022 and this season it will be a bunch of second raters. For the past 2 years we have been on a steady decline which is starting to look complete and I cannot see the Viking wanting much more and who could blame him?
For godsake….Now that’s just being hysterical. He signed a 9 and a half year contract extension, knowing at the time the team was in decline when he signed it.
Decline for two years? We won two trophies and came second last season. The base of the squad is Donnarumma, Khusanov, Guehi, Vitor Reis, Nunes, Gvardiol, Dias, Nico O’Reilly, Elliot Anderson, Foden, Cherki,Semenyo, Doku, Haaland and others. Plenty of talent, the squad just needs some finishing touches put on it which will come over the next fortnight.
Relax and let the powers at be do what they need to do. If they don’t make any signings at all, fair enough go nuts. But some of it is really stretching.

We have been on some decline over the last two years compared with the previous two. Yes we won 2 trophies last year thanks mainly to the 2 signings in January. Now the squad you laid out sounds fine on paper but when you factor in the cover needed for the PL, CL, FA and Carabau Cup in respect of injuries and fatigue it looks a bit thin.
Now I know Haaland has a very long contract but he is an ambitious player and the Club always says it will never stand in a player’s way if they wish to leave. I merely acted as Devil’s Advocate when I posed the question of whether he would continue to want to play for any club on decline? I wasn’t implying it would happen.
I get all of that, but everywhere I look it is just constant negativity. I’m not buying that a few days out from the new season. It is an exciting time, instead the focus is on players leaving who if we’re being realistic are squad players. If we turn a profit on them that is good business. Something, as you have stated we are very good at doing. Now, I do agree that some of the players signed who are likely to leave haven’t been good enough and can be viewed as bad signings. The other side of that coin is if the players cannot seize the opportunity at City with everything in place for them to thrive, that is as much on them as much as the club.
However, looking ahead to Sunday against Bournemouth a starting eleven of Donnarumma, Khusanov, Dias, Guehi, Gvardiol, Anderson, O’Reilly, Foden, Cherki, Semenyo, and Haaland is extremely strong. Very exciting and more than capable of starting the season strongly while we wait for reinforcements to arrive.
Sell them both, let spurs have them.
Having been a Spurs supporter since the 60s, (yes I AM that old), it’s good to see Spurs finally backing the manager financially. For years we’ve claimed to be a top club but have never put our money where our moth is. It may all go horribly wrong, but at least they’re giving the manager a fighting chance, just the same as the Arabs did with Citeh, and look what it’s done for you!

Adam I think what is spooking us is the lack of preparation in player recruitment. One of our greatest strengths and reasons for our continuing success has been our forward planning and having most of our “component parts” in place well in time and not racing against time to fill in places for rapidly departing players. It is very Un City like.
