The situation surrounding the future of Rodri at Manchester City continues to evolve. It did seem that as much as the Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder wanted a move to Real Madrid, the La Liga giants were not interested in signing him this summer. Fabrizio Romano reported on his YouTube channel that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has no interest in signing Rodri. However, a new report has emerged that indicates that perhaps Real Madrid are now interested in signing arguably Manchester City’s most important player. Whatever occurs with Rodri’s future this summer, Manchester City do need a speedy resolution to the situation before it drags on for far too long.

Furthermore, it is also reported that personal terms between Rodri and Real Madrid are considered to be a formality. Lastly, it is also reported that at this stage, negotiations between Real Madrid and Manchester City over a deal that will see Rodri sign for the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners have yet to commence.
Manchester City need a speedy resolution to the Rodri situation as they will not want the situation to drag on, nor can they afford for that to occur.

Typically, the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders do not keep players that don’t want to be at the club. Unless that player was Bernardo Silva. If Rodri informs City that he wants to leave this summer, and if Real Madrid do make their move, the sooner that process begins, the quicker a resolution can be found, whatever that may be.

However, it is becoming clear that Manchester City’s midfield general does want to return to Spain. The quicker that arrives the better they can plan ahead either with Rodri, or begin shaping a future without him.
You are quite right Adam. The Club, any club in fact, needs certaincy to plan for future campaigns. There are always rumours abound in the football world but there is often no smoke without fire. Neither of us know the personal nature of Rhodri with the Club but with all these rumours and the contradictory talk about a back problem I think it is time Rhodri came clean with the Club and stated what his future intentions really are. When City signed him all those years ago he was somewhat unknown and has been raised to the stature he is BECAUSE of City and not Real Madrid who did not even have ONE player in their WC winning squad.
My gut feeling is that Rodri wants to go home and has nothing left to accomplish with us. There is nothing wrong with that either if that is the case. He’s scaled every possible mountain at City and if he wishes to go back to Spain then fair enough. He’s well-established as a club legend and forever will be.
The best scenario for the situation is that it is concluded in a timely fashion for all parties. Whatever that resolution is. Hopefully that arrives sooner rather than later.
As we both said the quicker it is resolved the better for the Club. He is a legend and hope an amicable solution is quickly found and it does not “sour” his legacy the same way YaYa (and his agent) did.
