Manchester City could have two key players back from injury for Everton clash

Manchester City have continued their preparations for this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday. As Pep Guardiola’s side trained yesterday, there was good news to emerge from City training yesterday. Two key players look to be on the comeback trail from injury which is welcome news for the world champions.

In images shared on the official Manchester City X account, Phil Foden was pictured training with his teammates. Foden missed Manchester City’s 5-2 win over Crystal Palace due to a knock he sustained against Manchester United. But now it appears that Foden has every chance of being available for Saturday’s clash with Everton.

But the big news for Pep Guardiola’s side was that Manuel Akanji was pictured training yesterday. The Swiss international has been out since February. Akanji was forced to have surgery on a troublesome abductor injury. He had battled on manfully this season until his body couldn’t hold out any longer. But yesterday’s images suggest that he could return to the City squad this weekend.

A further update on the condition of Phil Foden and Manuel Akanji is expected when Pep Guardiola fronts the media later today. But it does seem that the key duo could be available for tomorrow’s match at Goodison Park. That would be welcome news for Manchester City in their battle to secure Champions League football for next season.

  1. OK I give in.
The lad on the right is Phil but who’s the one on the left and the one in the headline photo?

  2. The one on the right is Phil, who’s the one on the left and the one in the headline photo. Neither look like Akanji.

    1. It’s Akanji in the headline photo, and he’s in the second tweet posted on the article.
