Manchester City have achieved all there is to achieve in recent seasons. They have broken the 100-point barrier in the Premier League. They have also won the domestic quadruple. Pep Guardiola’s side also claimed the treble in the 22/23 season. Pep Guardiola and his team also won a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title last season. You add every other trophy they’ve won during the past seven seasons and you are looking at almost an unparalleled level of success from Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola, in an interview with Neil Warnock for SkySports, believes Manchester City’s record of 100 points and winning four consecutive Premier League titles won’t be seen again in his lifetime. Speaking with Neil Warnock Guardiola said: “No one is going to win 100 points, and four-in-a-row in the Premier League, it’s not going to happen in my lifetime, I’m sorry!”

Speaking during the embargoed section of his pre-game press conference ahead of today’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool Pep Guardiola further explained the achievements of his squad. He believes that their poor season this campaign puts their previous success in perspective. He explained: “I could say before in the previous seasons ‘it’s so difficult’ every time I say it, but every time they say for Man City, it’s easy. Now everybody realises, me the first I would say, is surprised at the situation and how incredible it is what we have done. We won’t be able to emulate, not even for this club, unfortunately.”
Pep Guardiola is right the dominance and achievements of this Manchester City squad may never be seen again.
The success of Manchester City has been taken for granted. It has been expected that Pep Guardiola’s side will just continue to roll on. But as we’ve seen this season, nothing lasts forever. Despite this, the achievements of Pep Guardiola’s side are such that we may never see them matched. They have broken record after record and continued on their merry way until this season. That speaks to the drive and determination of Pep Guardiola’s side. They kept winning and winning and took out their fourth consecutive Premier League title last season. You add all of their previous achievements, and you’re looking at arguably the greatest side in English football history.
But eventually, City’s era of dominance was going to end. We appear to have hit the end of that road this season. Nothing lasts forever. Pep Guardiola and his team have finally hit the wall. The legacy of scaling the mountain time and time again finally caught up to the current Manchester City squad. It is one thing to scale the mountain, but to keep doing it while doing the unprecedented has taken everything out of the City squad. It is now that the fall has happened that you see just how difficult it was to achieve in the first place. That shouldn’t be forgotten
