The 115 issue clearly isn’t affecting Manchester City’s business as they power on

Manchester City have today announced that Erling Haaland has signed a blockbuster nine-and-a-half-year contract extension with the club. This news follows this week’s busy dealings in the transfer market. In the background to all of this Manchester City’s infamous 115 case has rumbled away in the background. A verdict from the independent who heard the case is expected shortly in the Premier League’s case against Manchester City. But if this week has shown us anything it is that the 115 case isn’t affecting Manchester City’s business as they build for the future.

Simon Mullock has previously reported for the Mirror that Manchester City are not offering relegation escape clauses in the contracts of any potential new signings. Mullock further adds that the contracts for potential new signings Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov will be free of such clauses. Furthermore, it is reported by Mullock it is business as usual at Manchester City despite the wait for the independent panel’s verdict.

A report from Sam Lee for the Athletic also features an interesting snippet. Lee reports that Manchester City have always been confident of a positive verdict being reached in the case. Furthermore, Lee adds that sources suggest that the most serious sanction City is expecting to face is a fine in their infamous 115 case.

Throughout the entire legal saga, Manchester City has just gone about their business. It has not had an effect on any of their plans for now or for the future. Their transfer moves for Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Omar Marmoush show this. There is also the potential for City to make more moves in this month’s transfer window. The world champions aren’t moving like a club that is expecting a significant sanction.

But Erling Haaland’s long-term contract extension is not a move that would be made by a player or club who is expecting to face a heavy sanction. Haaland’s commitment is a sizable one. Manchester City’s commitment to Haaland is just as significant. Perhaps it speaks volumes about where the 115 case is headed. Perhaps it doesn’t. But it does give the impression that Manchester City are supremely confident of clearing the club’s name. They have always maintained that stance from the day the charges were dropped. Clearly, nothing has changed in that regard based on this week’s events.

The 115 case has not had any affect on Manchester City’s business. The club is powering on irrespective of the legal situation that surrounds it. A verdict in the 115 case will be announced sometime in the near future. But for now there is a confidence that is coming out of Manchester City. There recent moves show this.
