Manchester City vs Crystal Palace: Latest City injury news and predicted City starting eleven

Up next for Manchester City is a trip to London to take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Both teams will be desperate for three points in a match that could potentially shape both ends of the Premier League table. Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to build some momentum after their 3-nil win over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening. The hosts will be eager to pick three points to move themselves away from the relegation.

Latest Manchester City injury news.

Manchester City will enter today’s match with a host of players unavailable. Rodri, Oscar Bobb, Mateo Kovacic and John Stones were already ruled out for today’s match.

Pep Guardiola told the media yesterday that Nathan Ake and Phil Foden will also miss today’s match against Crystal Palace due to injury and illness respectively. That makes it six City first-team players who won’t feature in today’s match

Guardiola also explained that a decision on whether or not Kevin De Bruyne will start today’s match is yet to be made. The world champions may take a cautious approach with the Belgian international based on how long he was out with injury. De Bruyne made a triumphant return to the City starting lineup with a man-of-the-match display against Nottingham Forest.

Predicted City starting eleven.

Stefan Ortega- Ortega kept well against Nottingham Forest and I can’t see him being dropped today.

Kyle Walker- City’s captain has to play today with the Manchester City defence being hit with injury. He has a crucial role to play at Selhurst Park today.

Ruben Dias- Dias has played two game in a week but he has played well in both. The test is if he can now get through a third game in a week after previously being out with an injury for a month.

Josko Gvardiol- I expect Gvardiol to line up at centre-back today. He is more than capable of playing there and playing well in the position.

Rico Lewis- The England international will likely start at left-back and step into midfield when City have possession.

Ilkay Gundogan- He has become one of City’s most important players recently as injuries have decimated City’s midfield stocks. I expect him to start in the number 6 role once again.

Bernardo Silva- It is a toss up between Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva in midfield for me today and I expect De Bruyne to be on the bench. If that proves to be the case Bernardo will once again have a crucial role to play.

Jack Grealish- Grealish was superb against Nottingham Forest playing in midfield. He should take up that role again today and if he does he will have a vital role to play. It’s one he is built for.

Savinho- The Brazilian international came off the bench late in City’s win over Forest. I expect him to start on City’s right wing at Selhurst Park.

Jeremy Doku- Doku was brilliant against Nottingham Forest and that performance should see him start today’s pivotal match.

Erling Haaland- As per usual Haaland is an automatic selection for today’s match. He played well against Forest in a different manner than expected. If he plays like that again today the goals will come for him.
