Manchester City take on Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield. The game looms as a massive test for Pep Guardiola’s side. Across City’s current six-game winless run the world champions have been decimated by injury. The loss of players and fatigue has hit the Manchester City squad hard. But heading into Sunday’s crucial Premier League fixture has Pep Guardiola’s side received a massive boost?
When Pep Guardiola fronted the media earlier today he had no new update on the injury status of his squad. The City manager said he would know about who was available for today’s game when his team trained in the afternoon. Now, it appears that an update has emerged, and it looks to be a positive one for the world champions.
In images shared on mancity.com Ruben Dias and Jeremy Doku were both pictured training ahead of Sunday’s match. That is welcome news for Pep Guardiola and his team ahead of their clash with the Premier League leaders. Jeremy Doku wasn’t in the City squad for their 3-all draw with Feyenoord. Ruben Dias was an unused substitute in that match. The pair both now look to be getting closer to a return to the pitch. That would be a massive lift for Manchester City if that proves to be the case.
However, there is no update on the status of John Stones. The England international wasn’t shown training in the images shared on the official Manchester City website. If he is unavailable he would join Rodri, Oscar Bobb and Mateo Kovacic on the sidelines for Sunday’s match.
But it does appear that Ruben Dias and Jeremy Doku could feature at Anfield on Sunday. That would be a massive boost for Pep Guardiola’s side if that proves to be the case.
