Manchester City take on Feyenoord tomorrow evening in UEFA Champions League league phase action. It is a must-win game for Pep Guardiola’s side for a host of reasons. The world champions need to pick up three points to keep their hopes of a top-eight finish in the inaugural league phase of the competition. They also need a win to regain some confidence after their 5-game losing run. Heading into tomorrow night’s match there has been mixed news on the injury front for Pep Guardiola’s side.
In positive news for Manchester City Ruben Dias and Jeremy Doku have returned to training. The return of the duo is welcome news for the world champions. In Manchester City’s open training session, which was streamed live on mancity.com, the pair were spotted training with City’s first team. That is welcome news for Pep Guardiola and his team. It does appear that there is relief in sight to Manchester City’s recent injury crisis. But there was also bad news on the injury front as a familiar face appears to have joined City’s injury list.
John Stones failed to train ahead of tomorrow night’s match. The England international was substituted at halftime of City’s crushing 4-nil defeat to Tottenham on Saturday. The hope was that Stones was taken off as a precaution. But it now appears that he has picked up another injury which is a concern for Manchester City. If Stones had picked up another injury the hope is it isn’t a serious issue.
Manchester City have taken two steps forward and a step back on the injury front. The return of Ruben Dias and Jeremy Doku is welcome news. But the situation surrounding John Stones is cause for concern going forward.
