Are Manchester City’s chances of signing a Bayern Munich star slipping away?

The time is coming when Manchester City will have to begin the rebuild of their midfield. City’s ageing midfield has struggled in recent games and the time is drawing near when they will have to rebuild their engine room. One player who would be almost the perfect player to slot into City’s midfield is Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. But are Manchester City’s chances of signing Musiala beginning to slip away? That could be the case as he is currently in contract negotiations with Bayern to extend his contract at the club.

Sebastian Stafford-Bloor has reported for The Athletic that Jamal Musiala is happy at the Bundesliga giants. Musiala is quoted in the article stating he is happy at Bayern Munich. Musiala also confirmed that he is currently in negotiations over extending his contract with the club. His current deal expires at the end of the 25/26 season.

Manchester City continue to monitor Jamal Musiala but the signs are that he is edging closer to extending his stay at Bayern Munich.

As a player, Jamal Musiala would almost be the perfect addition to Manchester City’s midfield. The German international is one of the rising stars of the game and has firmly established himself as one of the premier young playmakers in world football. He has made a strong start to the new season with 8 goals in 13 games for Bayern Munich. But what stands out is he is seemingly becoming a more well-rounded player every week. His newfound maturity, coupled with his prodigious talent, shows just how special a player he is. He would be a quality addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. But based on the Athletic’s recent report Manchester City’s chances of landing Musiala may be slipping away.

Despite this, a new report indicates that the world champions are continuing to monitor Jamal Musiala. Lucas Arnold has relayed a report from Graeme Bailey for TBR Football that City had scouts present for Bayern Munich’s 1-nil UEFA Champions League win earlier this week. Furthermore, the world champions would’ve been impressed with Musiala’s performance as scored the winner in Bayern’s 1-nil win.

It is clear from TBR Football’s report that Manchester City are still maintaining a strong interest in signing Jamal Musiala. But indications now are that Musiala may be leaning towards staying at Bayern Munich. Manchester City’s chances of signing Musiala next summer may be slipping away but City are continuing to monitor the German international just incase he does become available next summer. That is still a chance of happening the longer Jamal Musiala’s contract negotiations with Bayern Munich drag on.
