It is no secret that Manchester City have been hit by injuries. As it stands the world champions have six players sidelined with injury concerns. Pep Guardiola explained yesterday that while City have cover for their injured players they do need a full squad back as soon as possible. With that in mind, the City manager yesterday provided an update on the condition of Jack Grealish. It appears that the winger won’t be back until after the international break.
Pep Guardiola was asked during his pre-game press conference ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham about when he expected Jack Grealish to return. The City manager was asked if he expected the winger back before the November international break. Guardiola’s answer was: “I don’t think so.”
The news of how long Jack Grealish is out for is yet another injury blow for Manchester City. Grealish had started this season in good form before injury struck. The England international had appeared to be getting back to his best after a disappointing 23/24 season. But injury has now held Grealish back from building on his good start to the season. That is a blow both for Grealish and the his team.
Manchester City will be hoping to have Jack Grealish back sooner rather than later. But the assessment from Pep Guardiola yesterday doesn’t paint a positive picture in that regard. It doesn’t appear that any of Manchester City’s injured players will be back in the immediate future. That means the City squad must soldier on as is through a tough run of games before the next international break.
Excuse my french but f**k the pathetic ‘international” ( ie UEFA/FA go fund me borefest) break. It’s done more than anything to totally undermine City’s season. Richards Masters must be proud.
