Manchester City beat Sparta Prague on Wednesday evening 5-nil without a host of key players. As they prepare for tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Southampton at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola has told the media there was no change to the injury situation faced by his squad. Manchester City’s squad is depleted and they will take on Southampton without six key players.
Speaking during his pre-game press conference today Pep Guardiola was asked about the injury status of his squad. He confirmed that City will be without six players. Rodri, Oscar Bobb, Kyle Walker, Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne are all out of tomorrow’s match.
Pep Guardiola was asked about Kevin De Bruyne’s return from a groin injury. Manchester City’s playmaker has been out since their nil-all draw with Inter Milan last month. Guardiola told the media that he was unsure when De Bruyne would return: “I don’t know. Of course, I prefer to have all the squad with this amount of games. But it is what it is. Hopefully he comes back soon. I don’t know yet, I would like to tell you, but I don’t know.”
Manchester City will enter tomorrow’s match against Southampton with a depleted squad. But that hasn’t held the champions back before and it is a case of the next man up for Pep Guardiola’s side. They showed on Wednesday evening that they are more than capable of playing well without six key players. Given the strength of the Manchester City squad that is no surprise.
There has been no change to Manchester City’s injury situation ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Southampton at the Etihad. The hope is that Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku can return sooner rather than later.
