Another talented midfielder is linked with Manchester City as next summer’s transfer priority is taking shape

The 2025 summer transfer window is still a long way from opening. But despite this clubs like Manchester City will be busy formulating their summer transfer plans. With this in mind, it is becoming apparent that strengthening their midfield is looking like becoming City’s main priority next summer. Now a new report indicates that the champions are monitoring the progress of Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. If the report is correct it may show where City’s priorities will lie next summer.

Graeme Bailey has reported for HITC that Manchester City scouts are huge admirers of Morgan Gibbs-White. Furthermore, Bailey reports that City’s scouts have compiled a detailed dossier on the England international. Lastly, Bailey adds that Nottingham Forest are determined to tie their key midfielder down on a new contract.

It is beginning to become apparent that regenerating their midfield is looking to be Manchester City’s main priority next summer. A close look at City’s midfield shows that a host of key players are getting on in age. At some point in the future players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, and Mateo Kovacic will need to be replaced. While they are still key contributors to Pep Guardiola’s side they will need to be replaced as the next generation of City midfielders are given the keys to Manchester City’s engine room. That possibility may eventuate next summer.

Morgan Gibbs-White is the latest midfielder to be linked to the world champions. Jamal Musiala is another player who has been linked with Manchester City recently. Fraser Watson has reported for The Express that City are the favourites to sign the German international.

Musiala and Gibbs-White are vastly different players but would add youth and hunger to Manchester City’s midfield if the champions did land either player in the future.

Summary

Based on City’s links with Gibbs-White and Musiala the champions are targeting midfielders next summer. The time is coming when Manchester City will have to regenerate their midfield and it appears that is what they are planning for.
