Pep Guardiola has provided a positive update on the injury status of his squad

Following Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday the champions did look to have picked up a fresh injury concern. Savinho had to be substituted in second-half stoppage time with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. But Pep Guardiola provided an update on the status of Savinho following City’s win. It appears that the Brazilian international has avoided a major injury.

Speaking after City’s win over Brentford Pep Guardiola was asked about Savinho’s apparent injury. The City manager told the media that it appeared that the dynamic winger was suffering from cramp. Guardiola told the media when asked about Savinho’s status: “It looks like cramp. I didn’t speak to the doctor; we will see.

Guardiola also had an update on Phil Foden’s status after he returned to training after suffering from an illness. He told the media: “He didn’t train too many sessions. Step by step. I am delighted he is back. We need him desperately and it’s important for us that he is back. He has trained this week. The game was tight, and I decided to use other options.

Based on Pep Guardiola’s update it appears that only Nathan Ake and Oscar Bobb are out due to injury. The pair are both set to be out for an extended period. That is good news for Manchester City as they begin to tackle a hectic schedule over the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen if Savinho and Phil Foden will feature against Inter Milan on Wednesday evening. A definitive answer to that question may be known when Pep Guardiola faces the media during his pre-game press conference ahead of City’s UEFA Champions League opener against Inter Milan.
