A Manchester City hero believes Guardiola is happy at the club as speculation over this future continues

One of the topics that will continue to dominate headlines this season is the future of Pep Guardiola. It is no secret that the Manchester City manager is in the final year of contract as manager of the club. Guardiola is the key pillar that maintains City’s status at the top of English football. Now a Manchester City hero has given his thoughts on the future of Pep Guardiola.

Former City captain Richard Dunne has shared his view on the future of the City manager. Dunne is currently working as an Academy coach at Manchester City. Dunne recently shared what he has seen from Pep Guardiola this season. In an exclusive interview with Ben Knapton from Sports Mole he said: “Certainly at Man City everyone hopes that he stays there, we want him to stay as long as possible. I’ve never heard anything or seen anything that suggests that he’s in any hurry to leave. He’s more than happy. It is the last season of his contract, he’s been in this situation before and ended up signing. I’m sure the club will do everything in their power to keep him. I’d imagine that he will stay, I hope he stays.

Based on Richard Dunne’s observations and Pep Guardiola’s hunger this season the early signs are positive that he may sign a contract extension.

Richard Dunne, in his exclusive interview with Sports Mole, has given a rare glimpse into how happy Pep Guardiola is at Manchester City. It is rare to get an insight into the inner sanctum of the world champions. But given Dunne’s role as an Academy coach he is more than qualified to provide such a view.

Dunne’s observation, coupled with how Pep Guardiola and his team have started this season, shows that the hunger and drive is still there from the Manchester City manager. Guardiola knows that he is in the ideal environment to succeed at the world champions. It should come as no surprise that Guardiola is happy working at the club. The club provides him with the perfect platform to do what he does best.

Speculation over Pep Guardiola’s future will persist throughout this season. But Dunne’s update is a positive one in regards to Guardiola’s future. The champions are determined to sign their manager to a contract extension at some point this season. Simon Mullock has also previously reported for the Mirror that Khaldoon Al-Mubarak has been told to do ‘whatever it takes’ to keep Guardiola at the club. If Dunne’s observation is anything to go by Guardiola’s happiness at the club may help Khaldoon Al-Mubarak succeed in his goal.
