During Manchester City’s 3-1 win over West Ham before the international break, Jack Grealish put in a promising performance. Playing on the left wing his link-up play with Kevin De Bruyne was a feature of City’s win at the London Stadium. The signs from Grealish were positive that he looked set to put a disappointing 23/24 season behind him. Over the international break, he carried that form into England’s wins over the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Grealish then followed that performance up with another good display last night against Finland. His ability to drive at England’s opponent’s defence was a highlight of his play. His creativity playing in a more central role appeared to suit his game. Lee Carsley’s faith in Grealish was rewarded with his displays for England. That is also a positive sign for Manchester City.

The hope is now that Grealish can continue his international form for City. If he does that will add another creative option to City’s arsenal. There appears to also be the option of playing Jack Grealish in a more central role now open to Pep Guardiola. That could help the champions on the road ahead based on his displays over the international break.
