It will be interesting to see what effect the new Champions League format has on the competition. There didn’t appear to be any need for the competition to be further expanded. But it has been and now it adds even more games to the football calendar.
The expanded competition will be another challenge for Pep Guardiola to manage going forward. Manchester City will need their entire squad to navigate the Champions League league phase and challenge for domestic honours. But that is part of the challenge of playing and managing at the top level of football. There is no doubt that Pep Guardiola and his players will be up for the challenge that lies ahead. With the kickoff times and dates now confirmed City can begin planning accordingly for what lies ahead on the calendar starting next month.
