Manchester City’s dynamic full-back Rico Lewis has been rewarded for his fine form to begin the season with a call-up to the England squad for their matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland. Lewis is one of four Manchester City players who have been called up for the Nations League fixtures. There is no doubt that Rico Lewis has earned his place in the squad after his sparkling start to the 24/25 season.
Rico Lewis will be joined by Phil Foden, John Stones and Jack Grealish in the England squad. Lee Carsley’s first England squad is a blend of youth and experience. It will be interesting to see how the new-look English side gets on in their upcoming matches. Surprisingly, Kyle Walker missed out on selection for England. The full squad can be seen below.

There is little doubt that Manchester City’s dynamic full-back Rico Lewis has more than earned his place in Lee Carsley’s squad. He has been one of the form players in the Premier League since the 24/25 season began. Lewis has shone for Pep Guardiola’s side at right-back. His ability to drift into midfield shows his versatility and is an added weapon in Manchester City’s arsenal. Rico Lewis is quickly developing into a fine all-around player and he will likely become a regular for England if his fine form continues.
It is also good news for Jack Grealish to return to the England set-up. He missed on thr European Championships and will be eager to impress on his return to the national team. The selection of Phil Foden and John Stones is no surprise given their importance to both club and country.
