Manchester City look to have received good news on the injury front ahead of West Ham clash

Following on from their 4-1 win over Ipswich Town last weekend Manchester City will take on West Ham at the London Stadium this weekend. Ahead of their trip to London, the champions look to have received good news on the injury front. Two key midfielders look set to be ready for Saturday’s match based on new images from City’s training posted earlier today.

First of all, Mateo Kovacic looks to have recovered from the hip injury he suffered against Ipswich Town. The Croatian international was pictured training, which is good news for the champions. Kovacic has begun the 24/25 season in good form and will be keen to build on his strong start to the season against West Ham.

In another boost for the champions, Rodri looks to have finally returned to training ahead of this weekend’s match. City’s midfield general had been out with a hamstring injury since Spain’s 2-1 victory over England in the European Championships final. But in images shared via Manchester City’s X account, the Spanish international has finally made his return to training. That should see him return to Pep Guardiola’s squad for this weekend’s clash with West Ham. Whether or not he starts the match remains to be seen.

A further update on the status of Mateo Kovacic and Rodri is expected when Pep Guardiola faces the media on Friday. If the key midfield duo are available for selection it would mean only Oscar Bobb is out of action for this weekend’s match. The young winger is currently recovering from a fractured leg and is currently sidelined for 3-4 months. Phil Foden missed last weekend’s match due to illness but if he has recovered from that he should also take his place in the Manchester City squad this weekend.
