It looks like Manchester City will make no more signings this summer

As it stands currently it appears unlikely that Manchester City will make any more signings this summer. Pep Guardiola’s squad looks to be set for the season ahead. A new report indicates that the champions have cooled their interest in Kyogo Furuhashi and will keep the players they have ahead of the transfer window closing on Friday evening.

Paul Hirst has reported for The Times that the champions look to have concluded their summer transfer business. Hirst adds that despite showing interest in Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi the champions do not intend to move for the Japanese international. Furthermore, Hirst reports that Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain have decided that Manchester City will press forward with the squad they have. Lastly, Hirst reports that despite Atletico Madrid showing late interest in Matheus Nunes the Portuguese international is set to remain at the club. Hirst adds that Pep Guardiola believes the midfielder will have a role to play this season.

Manchester City’s squad looks to be stronger than it was a year ago.

Based on the players who have joined the club and who have left, Manchester City looks to have a stronger squad than they did a season ago. Two shrewd signings have boosted Pep Guardiola’s options for the 24/25 season.

The additions of Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan have immediately strengthened City’s squad. Savinho has shown during the early stages of this season that he looks to be a strong addition to City’s attacking options. He has made a promising start to his City career. If that is a sign of what’s to come then the champions have another devastating weapon in the final third of the pitch.

Ilkay Gundogan’s return immediately strengthens City’s midfield. Another midfielder looked to be a major need for Manchester City this summer. The fact that Gundogan became available was the perfect move for City to complete. The German international knows what is expected from his manager. He also shouldn’t need time to adjust to Pep Guardiola’s demands. After searching all summer for a midfielder the ideal player ended up falling into City’s lap.

On the departure front, Julian Alvarez has been the most important player to leave Manchester City this summer. The striker departed for Atletico Madrid earlier this month. Besides the departure of Alvarez, a host of fringe players have also left City. Joao Cancelo has completed a move to Al Hilal. Kalvin Phillips also joined Ipswich Town on loan. Lastly, Sergio Gomez departed City for Real Sociedad. Those departures have cleared room in Pep Guardiola’s squad. A host of youth players have also made loan moves for the 24/25 season. This transfer window has seen Manchester City unload several players which sets them up financially for transfer windows ahead.

Barring anything unforeseen Manchester City have concluded their transfer business based on Paul Hirst’s new report. If that is the case the world champions look to be well placed for what lies ahead in the coming months.
