The starting lineups are in ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Ipswich Town

Manchester City and Ipswich Town have confirmed their starting lineups ahead of today’s Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium. It is City’s first home game of the 24/25 season and they will be eager to pick up three points today. Today’s game could see Ilkay Gundogan play his first game for the club since returning to the club from Barcelona. It promises to be a special moment if Gundogan does get on the pitch during today’s game.

For Manchester City, they will be looking to pick up where they left off against Chelsea. Pep Guardiola’s side picked up an impressive 2-nil at Stamford Bridge last Sunday. If they can beat Ipswich Town at home today it will give them a solid platform to build into the new season.

Ipswich Town will head into today’s game off the back of a 2-nil loss to Liverpool last weekend. While they gave Liverpool a fright in the early stages of last weekend’s game, in the end, Liverpool’s quality proved to be too much for the Tractor Boys. They will be hoping to give a good account of themselves today against the world champions at the Etihad.

Here are the starting lineups ahead of today’s match.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola named an unchanged starting lineup from the win over Chelsea. Given how well City played at a tricky venue that seems like a fair reward for the eleven who started at Stamford Bridge.

Rodri is out of today’s game as he recovers from his summer exploits for Spain. His condition doesn’t appear to be a cause for concern at this stage for Manchester City. It would appear that Pep Guardiola is playing it safe in regards to the condition of his most important player.

Another surprise was revealed pre-game with Phil Foden out of Manchester City’s squad entirely. An update from Pep Guardiola as to why Foden is out is expected when he fronts the media before kickoff today.

Starting lineup: Ederson, Lewis, Akanji, Ruben Dias, Gvardiol, Kovacic, De Bruyne (C), Bernardo Silva, Savinho, Doku, Haaland.

Substitutes: Stefan Ortega, Walker, Stones, Ake, Grealish, Gundogan, Nunes, Kabore, McAtee.
