A pair of Manchester City players are in doubt for Ipswich Town clash

Following their win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend Manchester City will take on Ipswich Town at the Etihad tomorrow. Pep Guardiola’s side will be eager to follow up their win over Chelsea with another victory tomorrow. Heading into tomorrow’s match Pep Guardiola has provided an update on the condition of Savinho and Rodri during his pre-game press conference.

Pep Guardiola was asked about the condition of Brazilian winger Savinho. The winger was substituted at half-time of City’s win at Stamford Bridge due to a knee injury. He informed the media that Savinho isn’t in peak condition just yet. Guardiola told the media: “I don’t think he’s completely, completely top. But he made part of training and he’s developing really well. We will see today or tomorrow, what we’re going to do with him.

The other major injury concern for the champions is Rodri. City’s midfield general missed last weekend’s win over Chelsea as he recovers from an injury he suffered during the European Championships final. Guardiola revealed that Rodri is still yet to return to training. He told the media: “He’s getting better. Maybe today he’ll make partial training, maybe. But still he’s not good. I don’t think so (for the weekend) but we’ll see today. We have training today at 3PM and we’ll see.

Rodri and Savinho are Manchester City’s only injury concerns at this stage of the season. Based on Guardiola’s update today Savinho will likely feature tomorrow but Rodri won’t be a part of Manchester City’s squad. Given the importance of Rodri to Manchester City there is no need to rush the midfielder back until he is 100% fit.
