Have Manchester City missed their chance to sign a Palace star?

With Oscar Bobb set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines and Julian Alvarez having left Manchester City for Atletico Madrid the champions appear in need of another attacking player in their squad. One player who has been heavily linked with a move to the champions is Eberechi Eze. But have the champions missed their chances to sign the Crystal Palace star? That may be the case as a new report indicates that the release clause in Eze’s contract has now expired.

Sami Mokbel and Lewis Browning have reported for the Daily Mail that the £60 million release clause in Eze’s contract has now expired. Mokbel and Browning also report that any club interested in signing Eze must now negotiate a fee with Crystal Palace. Furthermore, the Daily Mail adds that Manchester City and Tottenham have shown an interest in signing the England international.

Will the release clause reportedly now expired in Eze’s contract force Manchester City to look elsewhere?

The news of the release clause expiring Eberechi Eze’s contract may come as a blow to Manchester City. City tend to avoid lengthy and pricey negotiations in the transfer market. While the release clause in Eze’s contract was active it made any potential move for the playmaker a simple one to complete for the champions. With Eze’s release clause now expired City may look elsewhere in their hunt for another attacking player.

It remains to be seen who that player could potentially be. Eze made a lot of sense given his Premier League experience, talent, versatility and pedigree. But the world champions may have now missed their opportunity to sign the England international.

With Oscar Bobb out for an extended period and Julian Alvarez having left the club the champions appear in need of another attacking player. With the transfer window set to close in the coming weeks, it is now a story to monitor before the transfer window closes.
