Since the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid was confirmed yesterday it does appear that Manchester City need another attacking option in their squad. How City go about replacing Alvarez is a story to monitor ahead of the transfer window closing. One player that Manchester City continue to be linked with is Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
There have been several new reports that indicate that the champions are considering a move for Eberechi Eze. Firstly, Sam Lee has reported for the Athletic that Manchester City held informal talks over the Crystal Palace star late last week. Furthermore, Lee adds that Manchester City are casting their net far and wide in search of new players.
Secondly, Fraser Gillan has reported for TeamTalk that the world champions are seriously considering approaching Eze. Furthermore, Gillan adds that the England international is admired by Pep Guardiola. Lastly, Gillan reports that Manchester City believe that Eze would be keen on a move to the Etihad.
Reports suggest that Eberechi Eze is fast becoming the player Manchester City will target to replace Julian Alvarez.
Based on the reports from Sam Lee and Fraser Gillan it appears that the odds are shortening that City will aim to make Eberechi Eze their replacement for Julian Alvarez. While he wouldn’t be a like-for-like replacement he would bring a new dimension to Manchester City’s attacking play.
If Eze were to arrive at the Etihad he would add yet another versatile attacking option to City’s arsenal. With his ability to play in a variety of roles, it would give Pep Guardiola a plethora of attacking options to utilise. That move would leave the champions with Erling Haaland as their only recognised striker. But Eze can play in the middle or out wide. Adding a player of his ilk to Phil Foden, Oscar Bobb, Jeremy Doku and Savinho, to name a few, would pose nightmares for City’s rivals.
Based on that alone a Manchester City move for Eberechi Eze makes sense. Sam Lee and Fraser Gillan’s new reports suggest that it could now become a realistic option. Time will tell if City do move for the Crystal Palace star. But it does appear that the stars could aligning for a move from the world champions for Eze.
