Today has seen the first major departure of the summer from Manchester City confirmed. Julian Alvarez has left the club to complete his move to Atletico Madrid. The move of Alvarez was made official by both clubs today.
Atletico Madrid confirmed their signing of Julian Alvarez on their official website. The La Liga giants also announced that the World Cup winner had signed a 6-year contract with the club.
Manchester City also confirmed the sale of Alvarez on their official website. The world champions thanked the Argentinian international for his sizable contribution over the past two seasons at the club. After arriving at the club from River Plate in the summer of 2022 Alvarez set about making his mark at the club. He made 103 appearances for Manchester City. Alvarez scored 36 goals in those appearances. He will help the club win 2 Premier League titles plus the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Sean Walsh has reported for 90min.com that Manchester City could pocket up to €95 million from the sale of Alvarez. Furthermore, Walsh adds that the fee could rise to €95 million if certain add-ons are met.
There is no doubt that Julian Alvarez made a sizable contribution to Manchester City during his time at the club. He was an integral member of Pep Guardiola’s squad that has dominated both England and Europe during the past two seasons.
