When Oscar Bobb is in full flight he resembles a young David Silva. He has the poise and the technical ability that the Manchester City legend showed in spades during his time at the club. If Bobb can bring a quarter of what David Silva did to Manchester City this campaign it could well be Bobb’s breakout season. There will be competition for places out wide in Pep Guardiola’s squad. Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish, Savinho, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva can all play out wide. But based on current form Oscar Bobb should start this weekend against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in City’s Premier League opener. He has earned that right with his performances throughout City’s pre-season. If he can make an impact against Enzo Maresca’s side, it could set the scene for a breakout season for Oscar Bobb.
That is a tantalising prospect for Manchester City ahead of another exciting season.
