In 27 second-half minutes, new signing Savinho showed exactly what he bring to the Etihad in a sparkling cameo appearance.

The Brazilian international replaced Jeremy Doku in the 63rd minute at Wembley. Upon his introduction, Savinho set about tormenting the Manchester United defence. His dribbling ability was on full display as he went at the United defence from the moment he was introduced. Savinho also showed that his delivery has the quality that will aid the world champions this season. Erling Haaland, in particular, should benefit from Savinho’s delivery throughout the season. One cross in particular was the type that Haaland usually thrives on. As the pair play together, more, City’s number 9 should profit from the Brazilian wingers quality delivery. The winger also calmly tucked away his penalty in the shootout showing that he is a player for the big occasion.

Savinho had shown his quality last season with Girona. Yesterday was the first chance Manchester City fans had to see their new signing play for the club. Speaking after his team’s penalty shootout win Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Savinho. He told the media post-game: “He had a good impact. He can play on both sides. On the left, he has incredible quality and can attack the byline. After that, he is really good at the crosses. He will help Erling to score goals. Look at the goal we scored, byline and cross. When you can arrive in those positions and make a good cross, but not just inside, he was aggressive.

It took Savinho 27 minutes to show what he will add to Manchester City’s attack.
