Could a Manchester City winger miss today’s clash against United?

One of the many bright spots of Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the United States was the form of Jack Grealish. After missing out on selection in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the European Championships the City winger looked fit and ready for a big 24/25 season. The new season starts today for Manchester City as they face off against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield. But a new report indicates that Jack Grealish will miss today’s match due to injury.

Jack Figg has reported for the Sun that Jack Grealish will miss today’s match. Figg goes on to report that Grealish picked an injury at training late this week. Furthermore, Figg adds that the injury will rule the Manchester City winger out of today’s season opener.

It would be a cruel blow if Jack Grealish does miss today’s match. He had an impressive pre-season tour of the United States and appears set for a big 24/25 season. Speaking yesterday Pep Guardiola was full of praise for the attitude of Grealish throughout City’s pre-season. He told the media: “What I’ve seen so far here, one week in the pre-season on tour, I loved it. I don’t care how he performs, it’s every session his commitment and his trying, against Barcelona he made five or six shots, he was aggressive with the ball, that’s all. After that, his quality will do the rest.

If the Sun’s report is correct Jack Grealish will have to wait to begin his 24/25 season. He looks primed for a big campaign but he may be forced to have a delayed start to the season. A further update on the condition of Jack Grealish is expected when Pep Guardiola faces the media before today’s big match at Wembley.
