That may scupper any deal if terms cannot be agreed between the two parties.

But if the two parties do agree on personal terms and Alvarez leaves Manchester City, who could be the ideal player to replace him? There are several options for Manchester City to consider. Pep Guardiola could look at the options currently in his squad to replace the World Cup winner. Or City could hit the market to bring in a player to strengthen the City squad. On paper Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala looks to be the perfect player to come into the City squad and replace Julian Alvarez. The German international is one of the premier young players in world football. He also can play in a variety of roles in attack which he has shown throughout his career. That versatility, coupled with his prodigious talent, makes him almost the perfect player to add to Pep Guardiola’s squad. But this isn’t Football Manager so is a City move for Musiala possible this summer? On closer inspection that doesn’t seem a realistic scenario this summer.

Currently, there are no indications that Musiala is available this summer. Jacob Steinberg has previously reported for the Guardian that Manchester City have an interest in signing Musiala. But, as previously covered it does appear that the planets could be aligning for a potential Manchester City move for Musiala next summer. So, while Musiala looks to be the perfect player to replace Julian Alvarez, it may not be a move that is a realistic option this summer.
