Across City’s pre-season tour, several of Manchester City’s youngsters impressed during their four friendlies against Celtic, Barcelona, AC Milan and Chelsea. One of those was young Manchester City defender Callum Doyle. Now it appears that Doyle is set to spend next season on loan at Norwich City to further his development.
A report from Connor Southwell for PinkUn indicates that Doyle is set for a medical at Norwich on Monday. Southwell adds that Norwich was in the market for a left-sided defender. It appears that the young City defender fits the bill. Furthermore, Southwell reports that Norwich has been selected by Manchester City as the right team for Doyle to spend next season on loan due to their style of play. Lastly, he adds that the opportunity to play regular first-team football was another decisive factor in the decision for Doyle to head to Norwich.

Will this be Callum Doyle’s final loan spell before he breaks through at Manchester City?
It has become apparent that Callum Doyle is one of City’s brightest young defensive prospects. He looks every bit of a defender that could play in a Pep Guardiola side. With his defensive ability coupled with his ability in possession, Doyle looks like a player who could one-day slot into the Manchester City first-team. While it doesn’t appear that it will happen during the 24/25 season it does appear to be a realistic possibility for Callum Doyle in the future.
Another loan spell in the Championship with Norwich should see Callum Doyle further develop as a player. He has already had loan spells with Sunderland, Coventry City and Leicester City in recent seasons. It was obvious in the US that those loan spells have aided the development of Doyle’s game. The hope is that spending this season with Norwich City can further add to his game.
If Doyle’s potential move to Norwich City goes through it will be interesting to track his progress across the 24/25 season. The young City defender has the tools to make it at the top level. A successful season with Norwich may set the scene for him to finally breakbreak through at Manchester City in the near future.
