Manchester City’s menacing presence looms over next season

After Pep Guardiola informed the media earlier this week that Erling Haaland was ‘not comfortable‘ all eyes were on how City’s number 9 would perform against Chelsea. Come the final whistle of Manchester City’s 4-2 friendly win over Chelsea there were no question marks over Haaland’s condition. The striker scored a hat trick in City’s emphatic win. Based on his display yesterday Manchester City’s menacing presence is looming large over the 24/25 season.

At his best Erling Haaland is Manchester City’s wrecking ball. He puts the finishing touches on City’s play and he is a major weapon for the world champions. Haaland provides City with a weapon their rivals simply don’t have. He is a predator in the box and is easily the world’s best striker. Based on his display against Chelsea he looks to be primed for a big 24/25 season.

There aren’t many, if any players in world football that have the presence of Erling Haaland. He strikes fear into City’s opponents and so often is the focus of City’s opponent’s defence. The attention he attracts so often provides space for Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne and others to prosper. If he is at his best next season it makes Manchester City an infinitely more dangerous proposition. He has shown that during his first two seasons at the club. Heading into his third season at the Etihad he looks primed to take his game to another level.

Manchester City’s menacing presence looms large over next season. With 5 goals in 4 pre-season friendlies, he looks to be in sharp form in front of goal. That is a frightening prospect for City’s rivals but a an exciting one for Manchester City.
