Manchester City 4 Chelsea 2: City player ratings as Haaland’s hat trick headlines City’s win in the US

Manchester City 4 (Haaland 4′,5′,56′, Bobb 55′)

Chelsea 2 (Raheem Sterling 59′, Noni Madueke 89′).

Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City cruised to a 4-2 victory over Chelsea in Columbus, Ohio.

It was a fantastic performance by Pep Guardiola’s side as they put in their best performance of the pre-season to cruise past Enzo Maresca’s side. While Chelsea scored two consolation goals late on City showed they are ready for the Community Shield clash with Manchester United next weekend.

Erling Haaland stole the show with a hat trick. Pep Guardiola told the media before the game that Haaland was over his niggles, and City’s number 9 proved that as he scored three. He had two in the opening 5 minutes which set City on their way. The champions dominated the first half with Kalvin Phillips, Rico Lewis, Mateo Kovacic, Nico O’Reilly, Oscar Bobb, James McAtee and Erling Haaland the standouts. City went into the interval with a 2-nil lead, but in truth, it should’ve been more.

The world champions ended the contest swiftly after halftime. Oscar Bobb got his name on the score sheet in the 55th minute with a classy goal. His goal capped off a stunning pre-season from the Norwegian international. Haaland would complete his hat trick a minute later after being set up by James McAtee. City would get some minutes into the kids after their fourth and Chelsea would pull 2 back to add some respectability to the scoreline. Raheem Sterling scored one in the 59th minute with a nice volley. In the 89th minute, Noni Madueke would add another for Chelsea to make it 4-2 on the night.

All told it was a polished performance from Pep Guardiola’s side. It has been a productive pre-season tour with City’s youngsters showing they can play against quality opponents. Here are the City player ratings from City’s win in Columbus.
