Several Manchester City players will have extended breaks after their busy summer

Earlier this week Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad began their pre-season ahead of the 24/25 season. The hard work has begun for the City players who didn’t feature in the Copa America or the European Championships. But a new report suggests that several of Manchester City’s players who had a busy summer will have an extended break and miss City’s tour of the United States ahead of the 24/25 season beginning.

Journalist Jack Gaughan has reported on his official X account that a host of Manchester City players will have an extended break after this summer’s international tournaments. The players who will have an extended break as per Gaughan’s report are Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Nathan Ake, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji. Gaughan adds that there will be talks at some point this week about a pre-season schedule for Phil Foden, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Rodri and Julian Alvarez. Furthermore, Gaughan reports that City’s rested players will return to training on August 5.

It does seem like a smart move for Manchester City to give several of their players a period of rest ahead of next season. This summer saw a host of City’s senior players play a key role for their countries. Following a busy 23/24 season for the champions it has been a busy schedule for the players named by Jack Gaughan. A period of rest should see City’s key players return refreshed for what lies ahead next season.

As also reported by Gaughan the rested Manchester City players will not feature during City’s upcoming pre-season tour of the United States. While they will miss the opportunity to play with their teammates in the United States rest is more important than playing in pre-season friendlies for City’s senior players.
