With one new signing Manchester City’s attack looks to be a frightening proposition

One constant throughout Pep Guardiola’s reign at Manchester City has been the threat of his team going forward. Guardiola’s side are always a threat going forward and this trait has seen them dominate English football for several years now. But with one new signing announced earlier today Manchester City’s attack is now an even more frightening proposition heading into next season.

Today saw Manchester City announce their first signing of this summer’s transfer window. Brazilian international Savio has joined the world champions from Troyes. Manchester City announced the signing via their official website earlier today. The Brazilian international has signed a 5-year deal with City. As exciting as the news is Savio’s addition now means that Manchester City’s attack is a frightening proposition.

Last season Savio was one of Girona’s star performers. With 11 goals and 10 assists last season, he was a key contributor for Girona. Savio helped Girona claim a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history. With his blend of technical ability, speed, eye for goal and a pass the Brazilian winger lit up La Liga last season. That impressive form saw him become a Brazilian international last season and has earned him a move to Manchester City. Now his addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad makes City an even more frightening proposition.

As it stands currently City are well stocked for attacking options. Up front, Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez provide the finishing touches to City’s play. In midfield, the champions have Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden to pull the strings. Out wide with Savio’s addition now have a plethora of options to choose from. Each player adds a different dimension to Manchester City’s attack. Jack Grealish and Oscar Bobb bring control and their tremendous technical ability to the wings. Jeremy Doku provides pace and is a constant threat with his dribbling ability primarily on the left hand side. Savio adds another yet dimension. He can play in either wing and through the middle if required. If he can settle in on City’s right wing then the possibility of a dynamic winger on the right further strengthens City’s frontline.

After waiting so long for Manchester City to make a signing this summer they have landed one of the most exciting young wingers in world football. With Savio’s addition, the champions look a more frightening proposition in the final third. That could spell trouble for City’s rivals for next season and beyond given just how frightening the champions are in attack. Savio’s addition has added yet another dynamic option for Pep Guardiola to utilise. How he does so will be fascinating to see unfold next season.
