A City star put in an impressive cameo for England as he bids to put a disappointing season behind him

Jack Grealish came off the bench for England overnight in their 3-nil win over Bosnia-Herzegovina at St James Park. Grealish is bidding to be included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming European Championships after being named in England’s provisional squad for the tournament.

Grealish came on in the second half and put in a lively display. He set up a goal for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the 85th minute to seal a comfortable win for England. The cameo from the Manchester City winger resembled Grealish at his best. He was a constant threat to their Bosnia-Herzegovina defence and picked up an assist for his efforts. John Stones, Kyle Walker and Phil Foden didn’t feature for England as they enjoyed extra time off after the FA Cup final.

Jack Grealish had a disappointing 23/24 season for Manchester City. He showed flashes of brilliance at times but his form dropped off from his impressive 22/23 campaign. He will be hoping to impress for England this summer to give him a solid foundation to attack the 24/25 season from.

Lastly, for Croatia, Mateo Kovacic started in their 3-nil friendly win over North Macedonia. The Manchester City midfielder got through 45 minutes of action before he was substituted. Josko Gvardiol was an unused substitute overnight. Croatia continued their preparations for Euro 24 with an impressive win last night and will fancy their chances of success at the tournament.
