Manchester City will take Manchester United later today in the FA Cup final at Wembley. For Pep Guardiola’s side, they will be bidding to create even more history. A win over their arch rivals would see them become the first team in English football history to win consecutive Premier League/FA Cup doubles. Here is the latest City team news and predicted starting eleven ahead of today’s game.
Manchester City team news
The Premier League champions will have a full squad available for today’s game besides Ederson. The Brazilian international will miss today’s game due to the injury he sustained in City’s crucial 2-nil win over Tottenham a few weeks ago. Besides Ederson being absent today, the FA Cup holders have a full squad to choose from.
Predicted Manchester City starting eleven
Stefan Ortega- If Ederson was fit, it’s likely that Stefan Ortega would’ve started today’s game considering he is City’s cup keeper. With Ederson out, Ortega is an automatic selection.
Kyle Walker – With United’s main threat likely to be on the counter, Walker should be an automatic selection today.
Ruben Dias- Dias returned to form over City’s most recent games and should start today.
Nathan Ake- It would be a toss-up between Ake and Akanji as to who will partner Dias in City’s defence. I believe Ake will get the nod at the back.
Josko Gvardiol- The Croatian international is now an automatic selection for Pep Guardiola. That shouldn’t change today.
Rodri- City’s midfield general, will have a massive role to play today. Another massive occasion awaits today, and that generally brings out the best in Rodri.
Bernardo Silva- Bernardo will have a crucial role to play at Wembley. I believe he’ll line up on the right wing today.
Kevin De Bruyne- The Belgian international appears to be a certain starter today. He was superb against West Ham last week and will be hoping to carry that form into today’s FA Cup final.
Phil Foden- Foden was sensational last weekend and will be looking to cap his superb season with a big performance against Manchester United today. He’s a certain starter for today’s game.
Jeremy Doku- It appears to be a toss-up between Kovacic and Doku as to who will start today. I’ll give the nod to Doku given how well he performed against West Ham last weekend.
Erling Haaland- City’s star striker, will be hoping for a big performance today. If he’s at his best, he could prove to be a decisive factor in today’s game.
