Across this season, Manchester City’s Wonder Boy Phil Foden has become one of the best players in the Premier League. He has taken the next step in his career across this season. There is no argument that he has arguably become City’s main man across this season.
Across this season, City’s Wonder Boy has scored 25 goals and added in 11 assists in 51 appearances. Foden has been ever present for Pep Guardiola’s side this. Alongside Julian Alvarez, it was their strong form during the middle of the season that carried Manchester City through Kevin De Bruyne’s absence with a hamstring injury and Erling Haaland’s two months absence with a foot injury.
The opportunity was there for City’s boy wonder to take the next step in his career this season. He has firmly taken that step as he has arguably become Manchester City’s main man alongside Rodri. There can be doubting Foden’s standing in the game now. He has become one of the top players in the Premier League. If Manchester City do create history on Sunday against West Ham and claim a fourth consecutive Premier League title, Foden’s growth and performances will have played a pivotal role in their success.

Phil Foden’s fine season was recognised as he was named the FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year. He received his award on Thursday. Speaking with mancity.com, Foden said he set out at the beginning of the season to become one of the best players in the Premier League. He believes he has achieved this goal. After receiving his award, Foden said: “I said at the start of the year I wanted to try to be one of the best players in our league. I think this season my game has come on loads, and I’ve performed really well. I’ve moved more centrally, where I see myself in the future. I’m just playing with freedom and playing with a smile on my face. Being an attacking player at City, you want that responsibility to try and score goals and assist my teammates. I think playing higher up, that’s what the aim is to do. I put that pressure on myself, and I like that pressure. I’m delighted to be amongst so many special players that have won the award before.”
There are two more games remaining in Manchester City’s season. If they can win both over West Ham and Manchester United, they will secure the Premier League/FA Cup double. If Pep Guardiola’s side do achieve the remarkable feat, Phil Foden will have played a crucial role in their success. His fantastic play has earned his status as one of the Premier League’s best players. If he can build upon his strong form this season, City’s Wonder Boy will be on his way to becoming one of the best players in world football.
