Manchester City have confirmed that Ederson will miss their final two games of the season. The champions will face West Ham on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium. A win would see the champions claim a fourth consecutive Premier League title. They will face Manchester United in the FA Cup final on the following weekend. Unfortunately, they will have to do so without Ederson.
The world champions confirmed via mancity.com that Ederson sustained a small fracture of his eye socket against Tottenham. City’s number one keeper was clattered into by Cristian Romero during their second half of their critical 2-nil win over Tottenham on Tuesday night.
The Brazilian international was replaced by Stefan Ortega in the 69th minute of City’s win. Ederson was upset at being substituted, but it is now clear to see why the Manchester City medical staff made that decision. To his credit, Ederson did try and play through the injury. But the risks outweighed the value of keeping City’s number one keeper on the pitch. Stefan Ortega made a heroic cameo appearance in the final stages of the match to help secure Manchester City a crucial win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
We can confirm that Ederson will miss the final two games of the season due to a small fracture of his eye socket.
Everyone at the Club wishes Ederson a speedy recovery 🩵

Stefan Ortega will now start the final two games of Manchester City’s season. It is a cruel blow for Ederson to see his season end in such circumstances. But Ortega has proven he is more than capable of filling the void left by Ederson’s absence.
