One out and two stars available for Manchester City as they prepare to take on Brighton

Pep Guardiola has provided an update on a key trio of Manchester City players during his pre-game press conference today. After Manchester City trained yesterday, there were doubts on the fitness of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden who failed to train. John Stones trained yesterday, which appeared to indicate his availability for tomorrow night’s match against Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Pep Guardiola was asked about the status of Haaland, Foden, and John Stones during his pre-game press conference today. The City manager said that Erling Haaland is ruled out of tomorrow’s game due to injury. There was, however, a positive update on John Stones and Phil Foden’s availability. Guardiola told the media: “Erling is not ready for tomorrow. The other two are ready.” The City manager also added that Haaland’s injury wasn’t serious. He added when asked about Haaland’s condition: “It’s not a big issue, but he’s not available.

It is a boost for Manchester City to have Phil Foden and John Stones available for the upcoming match against Brighton. It is another must win game for the world champions given the state of the title race. With Arsenal having won their past two games against Wolves and Chelsea, they have opened up a four point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table. Pep Guardiola’s side does have two games in hand on the Gunners. Liverpool also have the opportunity to open up a 4 point gap over City if they beat Everton tonight.

Having Phil Foden and John Stones available means Pep Guardiola almost has a full squad to choose from against the Seagulls. They will be hoping to have Erling Haaland available from their next match against Nottingham Forest.
