Manchester City has been linked with Crystal Palace star Michael Olise. Olise has starred for Palace this season. His impressive performances have seen him now linked with a summer move to a host of big clubs. Do the world champions actually need a player like Michael Olise? That’s a question to ponder ahead of the summer transfer window.
Ed Aarons has reported for the Guardian that Manchester City is among a host of clubs linked with a move for Olise. Furthermore, Aarons reports that Arsenal and Manchester United are two other clubs monitoring the Crystal Palace star.
Does Manchester City actually need a player like Michael Olise? That seems to be the question at hand if the champions do make a move for Olise. There does appear to be a vacancy in Pep Guardiola’s squad for a player who can play primarily on the right wing.
Olise has played primarily on the right wing for Palace this campaign as his quality has shone through. Though injuries have been an issue for Olise this season, when fit, he has shown his immense talent and potential out wide on the right. His playing style is similar to that of Riyad Mahrez. The champions have missed Mahrez since he departed the champions last summer. He does appear as a player who could fit into the Manchester City squad given his skillset and potential.

But there may be an impediment to any potential City move for electric winger. Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that Manchester City has agreed a deal for Girona’s prodigiously talent winger Savio from CFG club Troyes. The reported arrival of the Brazilian may scupper any thought of Manchester City moving for Olise.

In theory, Manchester City does need a viable option for the right wing position. But given that Savio appears destined to arrive at the Etihad, it may be a case of Manchester City focusing their attention on other positions this summer. Michael Olise is no doubt a quality player. However, it doesn’t appear that Manchester City actually needs another winger if Savio does arrive this summer.
