Is a Milan left-back on Manchester City’s summer wishlist and could he be the ideal summer signing?

Could a left-back be on Manchester City’s summer transfer wishlist? This season has seen Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake play in the position for Pep Guardiola this season. Both have done an admirable job, but the champuons squad could do with an out and put left-back. With that in mind, is an AC Milan left-back the ideal player to fill the role for the treble winners?

Journalist Alessandro Jacobone has reported on his official X account that Manchester City is interested in signing the French international. Furthermore, Jacobone reports that the European champions would face stiff competition from Bayern Munich for the Milan left-back. Included in Jacobone’s report is the fact that both Manchester City and Bayern could potentially fulfil the sizable salary demands of Hernandez.

Theo Hernandez is one of the premier left-backs in world football. He has starred for AC Milan during his time at the club. Hernandez shines as an attacking full-back while also providing more than adequate defensive cover in the position. Across 39 appearances for Milan in all competitions, he has scored 5 goals and added 10 assists. His creativity and defensive acumen could perfectly complement the Manchester City squad in a position they appear lacking.

But being a specialist, left-back would make the AC Milan star almost the ideal signing for Manchester City. It has long been a position that the world champions have appeared to need. As mentioned earlier, Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake have played the role this season. Across Pep Guardiola’s reign at City Olexander Zinchenko and Fabian Delph also successfully played the role. But a specialist in the position could further enhance an already formidable Manchester City squad.

Having an out and out left-back could provide more options both defensively further up the pitch for Pep Guardiola. Theo Hernandezdoes appear to tick the boxes as the perfect player to come in and add to the Manchester City defence if the champions were to pursue a move for the AC Milan star.
