Jeremie Frimpong has had an astounding season for Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen. He has featured 34 times in all competitions for Xabi Alonso’s all conquering side. Frimpong has added an astounding 11 goals and 11 assists so far this season for Leverkusen. That level of production is astounding for a full-back. His strong form has reportedly caught the eye of Manchester City and their local rivals Manchester United ahead of this summer.
The young full-back is an attacking powerhouse that’s plays primarily as a right wing back for Bayer Leverkusen. The strengths of his game are as an attacking full-back rather than defensively. Given the way Xabi Alonso sets up his side, it allows Frimpong to shine in attack. His pace, delivery, eye for a pass, and his finishing ability are elite, especially for a full-back. There are, however, deficiencies in his game defensively, which need to be improved. But as a player, he does appear to have the necessary attributes to potentially play in a Pep Guardiola team.

Phil Thomas has reported for the Sun that there could be a summer transfer battle between Manchester City and Manchester United for Frimpong. Thomas also reports that there is a £35 million release clause in Frimpong’s contract, which becomes active this summer.
