It was another busy night for Manchester City’s stars but their international duties have come at a cost

It was another busy night for Manchester City’s stars for their countries overnight. There was unfortunately bad news on the injury front for the world champions with John Stones hobbling off in the early stages of England’s 2-all draw with Belgium. Here is a look at how Manchester City’s stars fared overnight for their countries.

John Stones, Phil Foden, and Jeremy Doku all featured during England’s 2-all draw with Belgium overnight. Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku both got through the 90 minutes of the entertaining draw at Wembley.

The biggest story from the match, however, is the injury suffered by John Stones. He was forced off in the opening 10 minutes with what Gareth Southgate revealed to be an abductor injury. The world champions will now be sweating on the condition of one of their most important players ahead of the penultimate stage of this season.

Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb both got through 62 minutes before being substituted during Norway’s 1-all draw with Slovakia. Haaland unfortunately missed a second half penalty, and Bobb put in a lively display during Norway’s draw.

Meanwhile, Rodri scored a brace and put in a dominant display during Spain’s 3-all draw with Brazil. City’s midfield general was at his best during the entertaining affair. He was the dominant player of the game, and the hope will be that he can carry that dominant form into Manchester City’s clash with Arsenal this Sunday.

Nathan Ake played the full 90 minutes in the Netherlands’ 2-1 friendly loss to Germany. Manchester City’s Mr Reliable got through the full 90 minutes unscathed. Given the injury concerns Manchester City has over Kyle Walker, Manuel Akanji, and John Stones, it was positive news to see Ake get through the full game without any issues.

Meanwhile for Croatia Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic both featured during their 4-2 win over Egypt. Gvardiol played 60 minutes before substituted. Kovacic played 45 minutes of Croatia’s entertaining win over Egypt.

Finally, Julian Alvarez played the full 90 minutes in Argentina’s 3-1 win over Costa Rica. Alvarez was at his lively best during Argentina’s win and will now return to Manchester City full of confidence.

Manchester City’s stars will now return to the club to begin preparations for Sunday’s Premier League match against Arsenal. Given that the world champions have several injury concerns out of the international break, Pep Guardiola will be hoping that the majority of his squad is fit and ready to fire during the final stages of this season.
